Ostara Blessings |
Ostara, or the Spring Equinox, is a time when darkness and daylight are equal. The Goddess, in her Maiden aspect, awaits the young God, born at Yule. Together, they will bring forth new life. Flowers are beginning to bloom everywhere. The Goddess carries broom, used to sweep out old energies and cleanse for the Spring, and an egg which represents new beginnings and the creation of life. The fertile hares arise at Dawn, a celebratory time at Ostara, and emerge from their nests. The morning sun rises, bringing a balance of light to the darkened sky. |

Bride of Imbolc |
The Bride of Imbolc stands amid a starry sky illuminated by a waxing crescent moon and flickering candlelight. She lovingly carries the first offspring lamb as the last of the winter frost sparkles in the trees. The first crocus flowers peek through the snow, as Brighid's Cross glows brightly, representing the circle of light and life, as the death of winter ends, and the new life of spring begins. The snakes rise from the frozen ground, searching for the first sign of warmth and light. The maiden prepares for new life and new beginnings. |

Winter Solstice |
The Winter Solstice is the time of the longest night--a time when the dark begins to return to light and life. The veil between the worlds is still thin--a time for divination through scrying--a time for visions. The Goddess, Rhiannon, rides her swift white horse through the dark of night. She pauses to gaze at her crystal visions, as they, along with the full moon, illuminate the sky. She will ride on, conveying others through their dreams, to the other side--where their visions can become reality. The Winter Solstice is a time for introspection, resolutions, and rebirth. |

Goddess of Samhain |
Samhain, or the Feast of the Dead, is a time for death and rebirth. It is a time of endings in order to start anew. The spirits of those who have past are celebrated, and the veil between the worlds is thinnest. It is a time for reflection, banishing, and divination through scrying. The last harvest before the stark winter has been reaped. The sun is waning, and dark takes over the light. The Goddess of Samhain is represented as the crone, or dark mother, though the glimmer of maiden and mother remain. The green apple represents fertility, as she will soon give birth again to the Horned God, who is now residing as dark lord of the underworld until the return of the waxing sun. |
